These days many people do not listen to folk music. It has been said that the time has come for music to take its shift. Nowadays, 'RnB' or Indie are the main industries in attracting young people of all ages into the depths of mesmerising lyrics. But there is an English band rather well known to many of you Green Scene readers. They are known as 'Mumford and Sons' who produces their sound in the form of folk rock/indie. The band itself is made up of Marcus Mumford, Winston Marshall, Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett, who is the brother of our very own, George Greens school English teacher, Ms Lovett.
The Band formed late into the year 2007, intensifying out with other London's folk singers e.g. Laura Marling and Jay Jay Pistolet. In February 2008 they concluded their all-embracing UK tour with support from Alessi's Ark and other bands. Overall, they were enlisted for the BBC's Sound of 2009. The Band released their debut album on the 5th of October 2009; Marcus Mumford stated it will be called 'Sigh No More' with the lead single called 'Little Lion Man'. Some of their career highlights were shown when they won Best Band at the 3rd Annual Balcony TV Music Video Awards in Dublin on 3 July 2009. Also their single 'Little Lion Man' was voted No1 on the Australian Triple J Hottest 100, 2009 countdown. This is also the largest music poll in the world. Their first album 'Sign no More' reached 7th in the UK's top albums chart. This shows a great deal of potential for the band, and we can anticipate that they will reach greater heights in the near future.
If the readers of the Green scene are not familiar with the bands work? (This is very unlikely). Then I suggest that you listen to some of their songs starting with 'Little Lion Man'. It's extraordinarily simple, just buy their album or go download their songs from iTunes.
